Project Summary
Design a logo to suit the game style and new name. The previous name was Ace of Spades but due to copywrite issues, the name had to be changed. The goal is to develop a compelling and evocative logo for the upcoming film noir detective video game titled "Spade Investigations." This logo will serve as a visual representation of the game's mood, style, setting, and narrative, capturing the essence of the film noir genre's distinctive atmosphere and mystery-driven storytelling.
I will also be developing the in game UI style based upon a previous designer's work and the Art Director's mockup drawings. There will be four in game color highlights that will be implemented for specific characters and UI elements.
The first thing I did before anything was watch "Sin City" to get the inspiration I needed for the noir genre. The design process for the game's logo went through quite a few font choices and style. The end result though suits the game perfectly as it illustrates a cartoon style detective game with an art deco style font. The logomark of the spade and magnifying glass represent the game's name and stands well on its own.
The initial storyboards I had created to help bring my vision across to the Art Director and the owner of Little Grim Entertainment. I was given some direction in that the owner loves the UI style of Persona5, a game that was released back is 2016. I reviewed some of the screen shots and did my research on other similar styles. I had also reviewed what the previous graphic designer had come up with and then put my own spin on it.
To get a better understanding of what the actual buttons and screens will be, I started out mapping all the actions and screen layouts.
These are the previous graphic designer mockups that were provided to me to help get some inspiration and direction for where the developers want to go.
Additional screen concepts building in illustrator prior to the organized Photoshop layers build.
Now that the logo has been approved, it is time to apply it to apparel and promotional items. As of right now only the t-shirts are being printed for a few select members of the development team.
